IPL 2023 Playoffs : By defeating Punjab, the Rajasthan team kept alive the challenge in the playoffs. Gujarat is the only team to enter the playoffs. There are four matches left in the league… out of which three teams will qualify for the playoffs. Four matches and fate of three teams will be decided in two days. The challenge of Delhi, Hyderabad and Punjab in the playoffs is over. Punjab has played 14 matches in this. Hyderabad and Delhi have one match each. Delhi and Hyderabad entered the field with the intention of winning the final match and sweetening the end of the tournament. Currently, Gujarat team is ranked first in the points table. While Chennai, Lucknow and RCB are ranked second, third and fourth respectively.
So far 67 matches have been played in the league round… In this only Gujarat team has got ticket for playoffs. Six teams are competing for the other three positions. This includes Chennai, Lucknow, RCB, Mumbai, Rajasthan, Kolkata. Four matches will be played in two days… Only after that the names of the final team in the playoffs will be revealed.
Chennai and Lucknow will qualify directly if they win their league matches…but if they lose. Their fate depends on the match on Sunday. Chennai’s last league match is against Delhi… while Lucknow will face Kolkata.
All eyes on the match between RCB and Mumbai –
Ranrent improved with a crushing defeat of Rajasthan. RCB kept the playoff challenge alive by defeating Hyderabad. Now RCB’s last match will be against table topper Gujarat. The upside for RCB is… this match is being played in Bangalore. This will be the last league match between Gujarat and RCB. RCB must win the last match to reach the playoffs..
Mumbai Indians team is also in playoff competition. But Mumbai’s playoff challenge is tough… Mumbai has 14 points from 13 matches.. but net return rate is -0.128. Mumbai will have to win the last league match by a big margin. Athara RCB, Chennai or Lucknow should lose one of the three teams.
Rajasthan and Kolkata are both in the playoff competition. Kolkata can get a playoff ticket if they win the last chain round by a big margin and the other team loses.
