Sachin Tendulkar On Jonny Bairstow: India’s great batsman Sachin Tendulkar has been very impressed with the scintillating innings of 66 runs in 29 balls by Punjab Kings opener Jonny Bairstow against Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL 2022. Apart from Bairstow, his England teammate Liam Livingstone scored 70 runs in 42 balls to help Punjab win by 54 runs.
Tendulkar said on his YouTube channel on Saturday, "I have been very impressed with Jonny Bairstow’s batting. Bangalore surprised Punjab by bowling Glenn Maxwell in the first over. But the way he hit him for a six at mid-off showed that Jonny Bairstow is in the mood to play a good innings."
In the second over of Punjab’s innings, Bairstow hit 22 runs with a four and a six, an attack that Bangalore could not recover from in that match. Tendulkar said, "The way he was batting against Josh Hazlewood, he was playing very cleverly. Hazlewood usually bowls good lengths and doesn’t deliver too many full deliveries. Bairstow targeted his balls close to the body, square leg and mid-wicket areas."
