He took the wickets of Robin Uthappa and Ambati Rayudu. Maxwell told after the match that Ravindra Jadeja and Moeen Ali helped him in taking wickets. Maxwell said seeing the way Moin and Jadeja bowled in the first innings helped him bowl on a slower pitch.
Maxwell said after the match, "The way Moin and Jadeja bowled in the first innings showed how to bowl on a slow pitch. I was focusing on bowling wicket-to-wicket as much as I could, because the ball was getting easier to hold, which helped me bowl."
Bangalore’s bowling has been a major force for the Faf du Plessis-led side this season of IPL 2022, helping them restrict Chennai to 160/8 in 20 overs. Harshal Patel took 3/35, while Josh Hazlewood, Shahbaz Ahmed and Wanindu Hasaranga took one wicket each.
Maxwell said, "It was a really good bowling effort. We felt that our spinners were getting help from the pitch and then our fast bowlers bowled brilliantly in the death overs, they did a great job to finish the match."
