In the first innings, Delhi opener David Warner scored 92 off 58 balls, including 12 fours and 3 sixes. Rowman Paul then went on to score 67 off 35 balls, including three fours and six sixes. Thus, the team added 207/3 at the end of 20 overs.
Nicholas Pooran 62 (34), Aidan Markram 42 (25) and Rahul Tripathi 22 (18) were the top scorers for Sunrisers Hyderabad. Williamson (4) and Abhishek Sharma (7) were the main contributors as the team lost by 21 runs, adding only 186/8 in 20 overs.
David Warner played aggressively in this match. The captaincy was vacated last season following a dispute between the Sunrisers Hyderabad team management and Warner. Eleven were subsequently dropped from the squad. At one point without joining the team, the spectator sat in the monastery and watched the match.
Under the circumstances, the Delhi Capitals team acquired Warner this season. He has been predicted to play aggressively in the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad, but is currently out as well.
After the match, the moderator questioned the aggressiveness of the match against Hyderabad. Warner responded, “I’ve scored big on this pitch before. There was a belief that he could accumulate runs if he took normal shots. No extra motivation is required to play against Sunrisers, ”he said.
He added, “On the other hand, Rowman Bowler played immensely. It is known that Bhuvneshwar Kumar will throw the White Yorker. Because of these I’ve had to move and drive accordingly. This is how Jazz Butler came back from the last match and played similarly. Similarly, I have been training regularly, ”he said.
