Striker Maria Urrutia (14th minute) gave Chile the lead in the first half while Isidora Hernandez and Karen Araya scored in the 84th and 85th minutes to sabotage India’s comeback hopes.
India made three changes in their team’s opening XI after losing to Brazil, bringing in M Lintoigambi Devi in place of goalkeeper Aditi Chauhan, while Martina Thokchom and Manisha Panna came in for Kamala Devi and Dengmei Grace.
Manisha Kalyan, who scored the first opportunity for India against Brazil, scored her goal but in the sixth minute her shot went straight into the hands of the opposing goalkeeper.
Chile then took control of the match. Javiera Toro’s attempt on Maria Rojas’ cross from the right end was foiled by Lintoigambi.
A minute later, however, Chile took the lead with Maria’s goal on Rojas’ pass.
Chile maintained a 1-0 lead till half time.
India made a good move in the 66th minute of the second half. Manisha pushed the ball towards 20-year-old substitute Dengmei but her shot was blocked by Endler.
However, when it looked like India would be able to keep the margin short, Chile scored two goals within two minutes to ensure a 3-0 win.
India will play its last match against Venezuela on Thursday.
