Dubai. The ICC Men’s T20 World received record viewership worldwide and over 1.67 million people watched it on TV. The tournament, which took place five years later, was broadcast for nearly 10,000 hours on TV and digital platforms in 200 countries. The viewership increased in India, Pakistan, England, Australia and America. The India-Pakistan match was watched over 15.9 billion minutes on the Star India network in India. The match became the most watched match in the history of T20 Internationals.

Earlier, the 2016 T20 World Cup semi-final match between India and West Indies was the most watched. Despite India’s early exit, the tournament in India was watched over 112 billion minutes on TV. ICC CEO Geoff Allardyce said, “We are delighted that the tournament has received so many spectators. This shows how popular T20 cricket is.

In the UK, India-Pakistan match viewership grew by 60 per cent while overall market viewership grew by seven per cent. For the first time in Pakistan, the tournament was broadcast on three channels PTV, ARY and Ten Sports and viewership increased by 7.3 percent compared to 2016.
