IND vs WI: India will go to win the series against West Indies, situation like now or never for Iyer

Fort Lauderhill (Florida): The Indian team will take to the field on Saturday with the intention of winning the T20 series against West Indies (IND vs WI). The fourth and fifth T20 matches will be played for two consecutive days. The performance of Shreyas Iyer will also be looked into in these matches to be held on Saturday and Sunday, for whom it is becoming difficult to make a place in the T20 World Cup squad. India are currently leading 2-1 in the five-match series and would like to win the last two matches in front of the American audience.

Shreyas Iyer is the one player on whom everyone’s eyes will be fixed in the current team of India. Deepak Hooda has made good use of the opportunities and it is becoming increasingly difficult for Iyer to find a place in the middle order. With KL Rahul and Virat Kohli set to return to the team for the Asia Cup, Iyer may have to sit out. He has scored zero, 11 and 24 runs in three matches so far and he seems uncomfortable in front of the fast bowlers.

Ever since Rahul Dravid took over as coach, any player has got enough chances but in Iyer’s case, he has not been able to maintain good form in T20s like in ODIs. Dravid has given Iyer a chance in nine T20Is in the last two-and-a-half months but despite getting a chance to play in the first 10 overs, he could not score a half-century even once. If Iyer gets a chance in the last two matches, he will have no option but to score big.

Suryakumar Yadav, who surprised everyone with his best shot in the last match, may get the support of his captain Rohit Sharma at the top of the order this time. In the third match, Rohit had to leave the crease due to back pain. Then he was playing on 11 runs. But after three days’ rest he will be ready to play. While Rohit will also look at the performance of his batsmen, his eyes will also be on Rishabh Pant, who can entertain the audience with his shots.

Avesh Khan did not bowl well in the last two matches but the team management has no option but to retain him as Harshal Patel is yet to fully recover from a rib injury. It will also be interesting to see whether Kuldeep Yadav gets to play a match in the series as India may go with an extra spinner if Harshal is not fully fit.

Teams are as follows
India: Rohit Sharma (captain), Suryakumar Yadav, Shreyas Iyer, Deepak Hooda, Hardik Pandya, Rishabh Pant, Ishan Kishan, Dinesh Karthik, Sanju Samson, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravi Bishnoi, Kuldeep Yadav, Arshdeep Singh, Avesh Khan, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Harshal Patel.

West Indies: Nicholas Pooran (captain), Rovman Powell, Shamrah Brooks, Dominic Drakes, Shimron Hetmyer, Jason Holder, Akil Hossein, Alzarri Joseph, Brandon King, Kyle Meyers, Obed McCoy, Keemo Paul, Romario Shepherd, Odeon Smith, Devon Thomas, Hayden Walsh.

The match will start at 8 pm Indian time.
