IND vs NZ: Suryakumar Yadav or Shreyas Iyer, who will debut, Ajinkya Rahane replied

Kanpur
Indian team’s stand-in captain Ajinkya Rahane on Wednesday made it clear that Shreyas Iyer will make his debut in the first Test match of the series against New Zealand starting on Thursday. The first match of the series between India and New Zealand will be played from November 25 at Green Park, Kanpur.

Talking to reporters on the eve of the match, Iyer said, ‘Shreyas Iyer is going to debut.’

The Indian team had earlier defeated New Zealand 3-0 in the T20 International series. Rohit Sharma is not playing in this series and Virat Kohli is resting in the first Test. In such a situation, the Indian batting was already in trouble. And the team is facing another difficulty with KL Rahul being ruled out due to injury before the match. The reins of the team’s batting have now come on the shoulders of captain Rahane and vice-captain Cheteshwar Pujara.

India have also rested Rishabh Pant, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami in this series. The team first has to strike the right balance. This is the first Test series under the supervision of coach Rahul Dravid. Talking about the Indian spin bowling attack, Axar Patel, Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin are with the team.

In pace bowling, Ishant Sharma and Umesh Yadav can be selected in the team on the basis of experience. There is scope for reverse swing on the Kanpur wicket and in such a situation, both of them can be of great help there.

Talking about the opening of the innings, Mayank Agarwal and Shubman Gill can be seen playing this role. This series can be very important for Rahane and Pujara. Both these batsmen are going through poor form and they will try to get back in color from this series being played on home soil.
