India dominated the first day of the first Test against New Zealand in Kanpur starting on Thursday. Team India won the toss and elected to bat first. Currently at the crease are Shreyas Iyer (75 off 7×4, 2×6 off 136 balls) and Ravindra Jadeja (50 off 6×4 off 100 balls). This is the first Test match of Shreyas’ career. Among the New Zealand bowlers, Kyle Jamieshan took three wickets while Tim Southee took one wicket.

Interim captain Ajinkya Rahane won the toss and elected to bat. However, opener Mayank Agarwal (2×4 off 13:28 balls) was bowled out for a low score. But .. when Gill was out at 82 .. then came captain Ajinkya Rahane (6×4 off 35:63 balls) .. Chateshwar Pujara (2×4 off 26:88 balls) who was already at the crease took the wicket with a low score.

But .. Shreyas Iyer and Ravindra Jadeja, who have shown great perseverance in the last two sessions .. shared an unbeaten 113 off 208 balls for the fifth wicket. No matter how hard New Zealand captain Kane Williamson tried to separate the pair, there was no gain. Regular captain Virat Kohli, senior openers Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul along with top fast bowlers Mohammad Shami, Jaspreet Bumra and Shardul Thakur are out for the match.
