The Indian cricket team has suffered a major setback just before the two-Test series against New Zealand. Team’s star player Lokesh Rahul has been ruled out of the series test match. Rahul has suffered an injury during the practice session due to which he will not be able to play in this two-match series. The BCCI has given this information in an official statement. Suryakumar Yadav has now been included in the team in place of Rahul.

Rahul did not attend the team’s initial practice session at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur. All the other players of the team participated in it. Rahul is complaining of muscle strain.

On the other hand, Shubman Gill was seen opening the batting with Mayank Agarwal during the team’s net session. Cheteshwar Pujara, the vice-captain of the first Test match of the series, also batted in the nets.

According to the earlier team strategy, Shubman was expected to bat in the middle order. In the absence of Rahul, this young opener will now bat at his natural position.
