IND Vs NZ, 1st ODI: Tom Latham’s heroics – New Zealand beat Team India

IND Vs NZ, 1st ODI:  New Zealand won the first ODI against India. The target of 306 runs was broken by a wave. With Tom Latham’s brilliant innings (145) and Williamson’s captain’s innings (94), the Kiwis won against India by 7 wickets. Both of them built a huge partnership of 221 runs for the fourth wicket.

3 wickets soon

Kiwis openers Finn Allen and Devon Conway played tight as the Indian bowlers bowled hard. . He added 35 runs to the first wicket while playing slowly. In the 8th over, Shardul Thakur was bowled by Allen (22). Joining Conway, Williamson slowly ran the scoreboard. But in the 16th over Conway (24) was brought to the pavilion by debutant bowler Umran Malik caught by the keeper. Daryl Mitchell (11) who came next did not last long. Umran took this wicket in his account.

Latham’s heroism

The happiness of losing 3 wickets quickly was not left for team India. Tom Latham gave a shock to India who wanted to take another wicket and put the Kiwis under pressure. While Captain Kane stood on one side, Tom Latham performed bravely on the other side. Edapeda smashed the Indian bowling by hitting boundaries and sixes. He got his century in just 76 balls. After the century, he played more and more. It doesn’t matter who the bowler is. The sky was the limit in the 40th over bowled by Shardul. He scored 20 runs in that over with three fours and a six. Latham Badudu did not know where to field Dhawan. On the other side, Williamson, who was rooted in the crease, assisted Latham and scored boundaries whenever possible. He scored a half century in this order. Both of them completed the target without giving any chance to the bowlers of team India to take another wicket.

Bowlers are free

Indian bowlers were completely comfortable in tying down the Kiwis. 3rd wicket fell at 88 runs in 20th over. After that there is no more ticket. This shows how much our bowlers have failed.  Especially Tom Latham could not be bothered at all. Arhadeep Singh gave more than 8 runs to the over. All the other bowlers gave 6 runs. Washington  Sundar was the only one who bowled sparingly. Team India bowlers Umran Malik took 2 wickets, Shardul Thakur took one wicket.
