India vs Afghanistan 2023: Clouds of danger are looming over India’s proposed limited overs series against Afghanistan. Seeing the tight schedule of ICC ODI World Cup 2023, Team India is looking very busy. In such a situation, there are chances of cancellation of this series. After the IPL, Team India will play the final of the World Test Championship against Australia (from June 7 to 12).
According to a report in Cricbuzz, the Board of Control for Cricket in India is finding it difficult to schedule the three ODI series against Afghanistan between the World Test Championship final and the West Indies tour. Team India will play two Tests, three ODIs and five T20 Internationals against the West Indies from July 12 to August 13.
It was further said in the report that earlier such an idea was taken out that three matches would be organized from 20 to 30 June with the same Indian squad which would go for West Indies tour from 7 July. But now, the schedule of Asia Cup in September is almost considered fixed. In such a situation, the players of the Indian team will not get a chance to rest before the World Cup.
It was further said in the report that there could be other reasons as well but the BCCI official is not ready to tell this. One of the reasons for this could also be that BCCI’s broadcasting agreement with Disney Star has expired and the new tender has not come out yet. Although alternate arrangements can be made for this, but it will be on BCCE.
The decision can be taken in the meeting
It was told in the report that Mirwaiz Ashraf, President of Afghanistan Cricket Board, is present in India for the final of IPL 2023 on the invitation of BCCI. Meanwhile, a meeting of the ACC Cricket Board is to be held on the sidelines of the IPL final to be held on May 28, in which BCCI and Afghanistan Cricket Board can take a decision on this series. Although the final has not been taken, but at this stage it looks doubtful. Although officially nothing has been cleared.
