ICC T20 Rankings: Indian batsman Suryakumar Yadav has jumped three places to second place in the latest ICC T20 rankings. Suryakumar (816), who scored a 44-ball 76 in the third T20 International against West Indies on Tuesday, is just two ratings points behind top-ranked Babar Azam (818). He was adjudged ‘Player of the Match’ for this innings against West Indies.
He now has 816 points and has scored 111 runs in the five-match series in which India lead 2-1. On the other hand, South African batsman Reeza Hendrix has moved up 16 places to 15th place, having scored half-centuries in all three matches against England. West Indies batsmen Brandon King (up 29 places to 27th), England’s Jonny Bairstow (up 13 places to 31st) and South Africa’s Riley Rossou (joint 37th) also made strides.
Heinrich Klaasen and Indian wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant (66th) have also moved up the rankings. South African spinner Tabrez Shamsi, who took eight wickets in the series against England, gained 19 ratings points to move up to the second spot in the T20I bowling rankings. Shamsi managed to gain a place but is 64 ratings points behind top-ranked Josh Hazlewood (792 ratings points).
West Indies spinner Akil Hossain, England’s Chris Jordan, New Zealand spinner Mitchell Santner and Ish Sodhi also benefited. In the ODI rankings, Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan has moved up a place to 12th position. Indian bowlers Yuzvendra Chahal (16th) and Shardul Thakur (72nd) have also moved up the rankings.
