The International Cricket Council (ICC) has stated that it expects all teams to participate in the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy in Pakistan in 2025. Last week, the ICC decided to hand over the responsibility of managing the 2025 Champions Trophy to Pakistan. Pakistan will host the ICC Trophy almost 29 years later. ICC Chairman Greg Barkley has said that India’s participation in the series is a bit difficult, but that they can not control the geographical and political pressures.
Pakistan previously hosted the 1996 World Cup with India and Sri Lanka. After the terrorist attack on the Sri Lankan team in Lahore in 2009, there were not many international matches in Pakistan. Barkley said he hoped all teams would be able to take part in the tournament “” under the current circumstances. It is learned that the England and New Zealand teams canceled the Pakistan tour in September. At the time, Pakistan Cricket Board chief Rameez Raja was angry with those countries. There has been no bilateral series between the two teams since 2012 following the terror attacks in India. Sports Minister Anurag Thakur has said that a decision on whether India will take part in the Champions Trophy in Pakistan will be taken soon. However, they said they could not control the geographical and political pressures. They want cricket to help improve relations between those countries.
