Union Sports Minister Kiran Rijiju On Tuesday expressed confidence that India’s men’s and women’s hockey teams will perform brilliantly in next year’s Tokyo Olympics. Rijiju said in a tweet, ‘I am saying with confidence and I hope that India’s men’s and women’s hockey teams will perform brilliantly in next year’s Tokyo Olympics. Our boys and girls are working hard for this.

He said, “We are providing them top level facilities and best support system.” The Tokyo Olympics was scheduled to be held from July 24 to August 9 this year, but has been postponed until next year due to the Corona virus epidemic. It will now be held from 23 July to 8 August next year.

India’s men’s and women’s hockey teams qualified for the Tokyo Olympics last year at the Kalinga Stadium, performing excellently in the Olympic qualifiers.

The men’s team, led by Manpreet Singh, defeated Russia 11-3, while the women’s team, led by Rani Rampal, defeated the US 6-5 and made their way to the Tokyo Olympics.
