Football Delhi selects 20 member team for Senior Women’s National Championship

New Delhi, Nov 24 (PTI) Midfielder Dipika Venkatesh will lead the Delhi team in the 26th Senior Women’s National Football Championships starting November 28 in Kozhikode, Kerala.

The Football Delhi Selection Committee selected the A team of 20 players after a two-month long camp at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium here.

Delhi has been placed in Group D along with Jharkhand, Karnataka and Goa. The team will start its campaign against Goa on November 29.

Jyothi N Burrett, who led the team last year, is out of the squad due to injury. This is the first time since 2009 that she will not be a part of the team.

Football Delhi President Shaji Prabhakaran said, “Our women players have worked hard in the coaching camp and they are playing in the national championship after a gap of two years. This will surely motivate them to improve their game. ,
