Eyes on Kohli and Williamson in the match between Sunrisers and RCB

Mumbai, May 7 (PTI) All eyes will be on Virat Kohli and Kane Williamson, two of the world’s batsmen battling poor form, when Royal Challengers Bangalore and Sunrisers Hyderabad face off in the Indian Premier League match on Sunday.

Both Kohli and Williamson have not performed as expected this season. Kohli has 21 in 11 matches. He scored just 216 runs at an average of 60 while Sunrisers captain Williamson scored 22 runs in 10 matches. Has scored only 199 runs at an average of 11.

Both have failed to meet their high standards. Both will be trying to contribute to the victory by meeting their team’s expectations.

Kohli indicated his return to form by scoring a half-century against Gujarat Titans but could not do any wonders against Chennai Super Kings in the previous match. After hitting three fours and a six, he did not get a big shot and kept on taking one run. Due to this, Glenn Maxwell was also run out and Kohli himself could only score 30 runs in 33 balls.

Williamson could not convert a good start into big innings. His strike rate is 96. 13 and he needs to bat aggressively now.

After winning five matches in a row, Sunrisers have lost three matches in a row, mainly due to injuries to their star bowlers. At present he is in sixth place in the points table.

Sunrisers spinner Washington Sundar’s bowling arm has been injured again while pacer T Natarajan got injured in the match against Chennai. Both could not play against Delhi Capitals, due to which Delhi team scored more than 200 runs.

Marco Janssen was dropped from the team but now Tom Moody would like to give him another chance as he wreaked havoc in the previous match against RCB.

Fast bowler Umran Malik was thrashed fiercely by the Delhi batsmen. Now Malik will have to focus on variety instead of relying on pace every time. Even better performances are expected from Kartik Tyagi and Shreyas Gopal.

In batting, Sunrisers have been getting good starts from Abhishek Sharma but they will have to convert a good start into a big innings. Nicholas Pooran has been in good form in the last few games and can play the role of a finisher if he helps from the top order.

When Sunrisers beat RCB last time, Faf du Plessis was bowled out for 68 runs.

For RCB, the bowling attack comprising Josh Hazlewood, Harshal Patel, Mohammad Siraj and Wanindu Hasranga will have to take charge. They have four match winners while Glenn Maxwell and Shahbaz Ahmed have also done their job well.

Apart from Kohli, captain Faf du Plessis, Maxwell, Dinesh Karthik and Shahbaz Ahmed will also have to play good innings.
