Delhi Capitals would like to make a comeback with a win against Rajasthan Royals

Navi Mumbai, May 10 (PTI) Putting aside their previous match loss, Delhi Capitals will look to beat Rajasthan Royals on Wednesday to stay in the race for the IPL playoffs while Royals will look to maintain the winning streak.

Delhi have lost six out of 11 matches and despite being ranked fifth in the points table, their road to the playoffs is not that smooth. Sunrisers Hyderabad and Punjab Kings have ten points in the same number of matches.

Delhi’s net run rate plus is 0.150 but they have to win the next three matches.

Rajasthan, on the other hand, are third with 14 points and need only two points to qualify. Its runrate is also plus 0.326 which can prove useful in the last calculation.

Delhi’s team has failed to perform consistently this season. After defeating Sunrisers, they lost to Chennai Super Kings by 91 runs.

Against Devon Conway, his bowlers looked helpless and Chennai scored more than 200 runs with a barrage of fours and sixes.

Among Delhi bowlers, Kuldeep Yadav has taken wickets but in the last two matches he has been very expensive. The return of fast bowler Anrich Norkea did not make much difference as he could not repeat the performance of the previous seasons. Khaleel Ahmed was economical and Axar Patel bowled well.

In the batting, David Warner got runs off the bat but he did not get help from the opening partners. Delhi has tried Prithvi Shaw to Mandeep Singh and Shrikar Bharat but could not find the right opening partner for Warner.

The biggest concern for Delhi is skipper Rishabh Pant’s form. He showed glimpses of his form but the team expects him to do better.

Royals have the best bowling attack of the tournament. Yuzvendra Chahal 14. Took 22 wickets at an average of 50. Ravichandran Ashwin, Trent Boult and famous Krishna have also done well.

The best part for the Royals is that there has been no over-dependence on Jos Buttler. Yashasvi Jaiswal scored a fifty against Punjab. Sanju Samson and Devdutt Padikkal need to play better innings.

The team will miss Shimron Hetmyer who has returned to Guyana due to the birth of his child.
