Daniel Sams IPL 2022: One month and these 6 balls… Villain-turned-hero, is this the same Daniel Sams?

Mumbai: For Australian bowler Daniel Sams, April 6 was no less than a nightmare. Pat Cummins snatched the victory from the jaws of Mumbai against Kolkata Knight Riders when he scored 35 runs. Exactly a month after this match i.e. on 6th May, Daniel Sams gave victory to Mumbai by doing charisma in the last over against Gujarat Titans and in one stroke became a hero for the team from Villain.

At one time Gujarat was moving towards victory, but in the end Mumbai won. Left-arm pacer Daniel Sams bowled slow deliveries and kept it away from the batsmen, as he failed to hit the ball and lost the match by five runs in the final over. The Australian player has played seven T20 Internationals so far this season, in which he has been in excellent form.

Sams is also ahead in batting. He has scored 721 runs in 81 T20 matches and has also taken 94 wickets. The New South Wales player revealed his strategy after the Mumbai Indians win, saying that he was focusing on bowling slower deliveries, which he did not let the batsmen realize.

Sams said, ‘I was focusing on my slow ball. I bowled well and slow and kept the balls a bit away from David Miller. Despite the defeat in several matches in the initial phase of the season, the morale of the players has not weakened. Sams has been the main player for the team in bowling. Sams finished his bowling with the best economy rate in the star-studded ground, conceding only 18 runs in three overs, while Jasprit Bumrah conceded 48 runs in his four overs.

Sams bowled a slow delivery and corrected his wide delivery, placing it inside the tramline and making sure the Gujarat batsmen could not hit the ball. Captain Rohit Sharma said, ‘Sams has not played in the last few matches, but the world knows about his performance, which we do not need to tell. He is a brilliant bowler.
