CWG 2022 IND W vs BAR W: Renuka Singh became the call for Barbados, Team India got its second biggest win

Birmingham: The Indian women’s cricket team has booked a place in the semi-finals of the Commonwealth Games (CWG 2022). Team India made a great comeback after losing to Australia in the first match. The team’s match was against Barbados on Wednesday. This match was like a quarter final i.e. the winning team would get a ticket to the semi-finals. That’s where the losing team’s journey ends. India won this match by a huge margin of 100 runs.

Strong performance by batsmen
Opener Smriti Mandhana and captain Harmanpreet Kaur could not do much for India. Even after this, the team reached 162 runs. After the dismissal of Smriti (5), there was a 71-run partnership for the second wicket between Shefali Verma and Jemima Rodrigues. Shefali was run out after scoring 43 runs off 26 balls. Captain Harmanpreet could not even open the account.

Jemima got support from Deepti Sharma after falling for 4 wickets for 94 runs. The unbeaten partnership of 70 runs in 42 balls was made between the two for the 5th wicket. Jemima, who has been struggling with form for a long time, scored 56 runs in 46 balls. He has scored a half-century after two years. 34 runs came off Deepti’s bat.

Renuka’s amazing ball
Renuka Singh, who did wonders with the ball in the first match against Australia, once again wreaked havoc on the batsmen. He bowled Diandra Dottin (0) in the very first over. By the 5th over, Barbados had four wickets down and all were taken by Renuka. He took 4 wickets for 10 runs in the spell of 4 overs. This is also his career best performance.

The Barbados team could not recover from these initial shocks throughout the match. The team could score only 62 runs for 8 wickets in 20 overs. Kishona Knight (16) played the biggest innings for him. Meghna Singh, Sneh Rana, Radha Yadav and Harampreet Kaur also got 1-1 wickets.

This is India’s second biggest win in terms of runs in women’s T20 cricket. Earlier in 2018, Team India defeated Malaysia by 142 runs in the Asia Cup match. Uganda (304 runs) has the biggest win in terms of runs in T20 International cricket.
