Cricket world praises Chandrakant Pandit, coach of Ranji champion Madhya Pradesh

Bengaluru, June 26 (PTI) The cricket world on Sunday lauded the hard work and dedication of Madhya Pradesh coach Chandrakant Pandit, who became Ranji champions for the first time by beating domestic cricket giant Mumbai.

Pandit, who lost the final of the Ranji Trophy at the same Chinnaswamy Stadium as the captain of Madhya Pradesh in his last season as a player in 1998-99, fulfilled that feat as a coach.

This is his sixth Ranji Trophy title as a coach. Under his guidance, Mumbai has won this title three times and Vidarbha twice.

Wicket-keeper batsman Dinesh Karthik, who made a stellar comeback in the Indian Premier League (IPL) last season, compared Pandit to English Premier League club Manchester United’s legendary manager (coach) Alex Ferguson, who has won 13 titles in the prestigious football tournament.

Former India opener Virender Sehwag wrote, “Many congratulations to Madhya Pradesh on winning the Ranji Trophy. The team from Madhya Pradesh who has shown grit and determination to beat the 41-time champions Mumbai deserves all the praise and praise. It is indeed a historic day for them.

Former India head coach Ravi Shastri also praised Pandit’s achievement, saying, “Making three states as Ranji champions is a remarkable achievement and it is a true reflection of his dedication and commitment towards the job. ,

The Ranji Trophy was held in two phases, before and after the IPL and BCCI Secretary Jay Shah lauded the effort made by Madhya Pradesh to win the title.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan also lauded the performance of the state team.
