Team India young all-rounder in the first Test against England at the Chepauk Stadium in Chennai Washington Sundar (58 batting: 10×4 off 97 balls) scored a half century. Sundar, who continued batting today with an overnight individual score of 33 on Monday, the fourth day of the match, reached the 50-run milestone in 82 balls. This is the second consecutive half-century in the career of Sundar, who is playing his second Test. The all-rounder also hit a half-century in the last Test against Australia at Gabba.

Sunder, who was hit by a cover drive in the 80th over of the innings by spinner Jack Leach, became the 8th Indian cricketer to score a half-century in his first Test at home and abroad.
