- Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman introduced the budget today
- This year saw a cut in sports budget allocations compared to last year
- The impact of the massive cuts on the allocation of funds to Khelo India
- The central government also slashed the sports budget last year
In the wake of the corona virus outbreak .. no events took place for almost 6-7 months last year. The Tokyo Olympics were also postponed in this order. Until then, the athletes who had been training for the mega tournament were confined to their homes. Many of them are trained by foreign coaches. In total .. income along with expenses from sports was missing for those six months. For this reason, it seems that the central government has imposed a cut in the sports budget this time.
In the 2020-2021 budget, Rs. 2,826.92 crore was allotted by the Central Government. The amount was reduced to Rs. 1,800.15 crores. This time it was Rs. Only Rs 795.99 crore was added by the Central Government. The Khelo India program, which the Modi government has taken for granted, has suffered a major setback this time. The central government had allocated Rs 890.42 crore to Khelo India last year. This time it was Rs 657.71 crore. That is .. Rs 232.71 crore cut ..!
