Three-time champion Chennai Super Kings Australian opener Shane Watson On Sunday announced their team’s retirement from franchise cricket after their team’s last league match of the season against Kings XI. He told his CSK teammates that he would retire from all formats. However he was not a part of Playing-XI in this match.

The 2020 season was not much special for Watson. However he only played a crucial innings of 83 not out against Kings XI Punjab. Watson is considered a good friend of Dhoni, the captain of the team, and it is likely that he will be included in the CSK support staff next year.
“Watson has always done very well for us, and an Dhoni knows how important this player can be if he is used properly,” said an official.
