Delhi Capitals head coach Ricky Ponting has admitted that his team did not appear to be chasing a target of 201 runs in any condition in the Qualifier-1 match with Mumbai Indians. Mumbai defeated Delhi to enter the finals and now Delhi will have to play in the second qualifier.

The second qualifier will be between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Royal Challengers Bangalore between the winner and Delhi on Friday. Mumbai, playing first, set a target of 201 runs in front of Delhi, but Delhi’s team could score 143 runs for 8 wickets.

Ponting said after the match, ‘Our execution was not worth chasing in any way in the early overs. It was the same with bowling. In the first over, we gave 15 runs and from here we lost the rhythm. In between we tried to come back but later our plan got spoiled again. Our execution was miles away. ‘
