In the 220-run chase, Delhi Capitals did not move towards victory at any stage. Opener Shikhar Dhawan (0) was out in the first over. Steinis (5) and Simran Hitmeyer (16) came out on top in the batting order. Rahane (3×4, 1×6 off 26:19 balls), who batted a bit at this stage, was also found to be LBW in front of the wickets by Rashid Khan. With that .. by the end of 6.5 overs Delhi was close to defeat with 55/4. Rishabh Pant (3×4, 1×6 off 36:35 balls) along with skipper Shreyas Iyer (7), Akshar Patel (1) and Kagiso Rabada (3) tried to close the gap on Delhi in the middle overs. But .. there was no profit. Pant was out at 103. Finally, Tushar Deshpande (20 not out: 2×4, 1×6 off 9 balls) batted a bit.
Delhi captain Shreyas Iyer, who won the toss in the match, opted for fielding. With that .. David Warner and Saha, who started the Hyderabad innings, started batting from the first over. Rabadani was not spared in this order. In his over, Warner hit four fours and a six to put Hyderabad on 22 runs. In the same aggression, Warner completed his half century in just 25 balls. Ashwin dismissed Warner at 107 for the team. Saha did not back down though. Spinners Ashwin and Akshar Patel came out of the crease in bowling and played huge shots. Sahani Nortez, who looked to be making a century in the same swing, was out. In the slog overs, Manish Pandey (44 not out: 4×4, 1×6 off 31 balls) and Williamson (11 not out: 1×4 off 10 balls) played a bit slower.
