In the Indian Premier League 2020 eliminator, Sunrisers Hyderabad defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore by six wickets to qualify for Qualifier 2. The Bangalore team could only manage 131 runs for seven wickets after being invited to bat first. AB de Villiers scored the highest 56 runs for him. In response, the Sunrisers won the match with the help of a partnership of Kane Williamson and Jason Holder with two balls to spare. After the match, Bangalore captain Virat Kohli admitted that his team did not score much runs and this was the major reason for his defeat.

Kohli said, “If you talk about the first innings, I don’t think we scored enough runs.” The Bangalore team had won seven of the opening 10 matches in the league stage. But since then he has been continuously defeated. Captain Kohli looked very disappointed with this. Kohli said, ‘We played very poorly in the second half. He said that with his game we have come to understand that there is very little scope for mistake here. If we caught Kane (Williamson), the match would have been different.

Williamson played on the side of Navdeep Saini in the 18th over of the innings. He was going for six but Devdutt Padikkal could not catch a difficult chance. Although he definitely saved five runs.

The Bangalore captain admitted that the Sunrisers kept a lot of pressure on his team. Kohli admitted that many of his batsmen were dismissed by playing bad shots. But there were significantly fewer runs on the board overall. He said that we should have batted a little more openly. In the last over, some of our shots went straight into the hands of the fielders. Kohli said about his bowlers that we could not put enough pressure on the opposition team.
