Opener Devdutt Padikkal, who has played 14 matches in the latest IPL season, has scored 472 runs with a strike rate of 126.54. This includes five half centuries. Aaron Finch, another opener who played 11 matches, scored 236 runs with a strike rate of 111.84, including a half-century. Another opener, Philippi, played five matches and scored 78 runs with a strike rate of 101.29. With that .. it seems that Virat Kohli has a chance to play in the playoffs as the opener along with Padikkal. Sunrisers Hyderabad and Bangalore will meet in the eliminator match on Friday at 7.30 pm in Abu Dhabi. While the winning team will not play in Qualifier-2, the losing team will go home.
One of the reasons for the Royal Challengers Bangalore clash in the IPL 2020 season is the lack of a proper opening pair. Aaron Finch of Australia failed to open the innings. Devdut Padikkal, however, impressed in a consecutive half century. But .. the two together could not establish a proper opening partnership for RCB except in one match. With that .. Virat Kohli in the middle order has been putting extra burden on AB de Villiers. Finch did not receive form until the end of the league stage of the season and sent Josh Philippi to the Bangalore opener along with Padikkal. But .. these two also failed to excel as a couple. With that .. news is coming that the Bangalore team management is planning to change the opening pair in the playoffs.
