Navdeep Saini was included in the Indian team for the Sydney Test. Saini was handed the test cap by Jasprit Bumrah in the third Test match of the series started between Australia and India on Thursday. Saini became the 299th player to play Test cricket for India. Will Pukowski hit the first ball of Saini’s test career. However, he made a good comeback after that.
Saini, however, made a brilliant comeback in his third over. In the 35th over of the innings, Saini put the in-form Pukowski to LBW. Saini did what he is known for. The fast and full length ball hit the puck of Pukowski playing cross. Pukowski wanted to flick the ball but the ball dodged him with a pad.
Pukowski talked to Labushane and finally decided not to have a review. Pukowski was batting well it seemed that he would score a century but it could not happen. It was clear in the replay that the ball was hitting straight wickets.
Pukowski also had some opportunities before that. Rishabh Pant also gave Pukowski two lives. Pant twice missed Pukowski’s catches. Pukowski missed the last ball of the first 22nd over off Ravichandran Ashwin and the ball took the outside edge of the bat. It was an easy catch, but Pant left the catch in a hurry.
After this, in the 25th over, Pant gave another life to Pukowski off Mohammad Siraj. Siraj’s short pitch ball went to pull Pukowski but the ball went high in the air with his gloves. Pant ran backwards but could not catch the ball despite two attempts.
