Captain Joe Root (156 not out: 16×4 off 277 balls, 1×6 off 277 balls), who continued batting today with an overnight individual score of 128, reached the milestone with 150 runs with the same perseverance. The duo put up an unbeaten 92 for the fourth wicket against the Indian bowlers in the first session.

The Indian bowlers, who emerged victorious in the last two sessions on Friday, were disappointed in the first session today as well. Most importantly .. Ashwin who has a better record on Ben Stokes .. could not make any impact at all. Ben Stokes hit a six towards Longoff off a ball thrown by Ashwin outside the off stump early on. Nadeem also bowled a huge six towards mid-wicket. Sunder also bowled Ben Stokes with sweep shots. The Stokes-Root duo, who faced a total of 178 balls in the first session today, are credited with establishing a 92-run partnership.

Jorut scored a double century and a huge century in the two-Test series against Sri Lanka that ended in January. Jorut scored 228 in the first Test and 186 in the second Test. Joe Root appears in the same touch in Chennai.
