South African pacer Lungi Ngidi has tested positive for COVID-19, ruling him out of the three-match home ODI series against the Netherlands starting Friday at Centurion. The South Africa Cricket Board gave this information on Wednesday.

Cricket South Africa (CSA) said in a statement that pacer Junior Dala has been included in the squad in place of Engidi. The CSA said, ‘Lungi Engidi was forced to leave the tour as he has come positive in the Kovid-19 test. He is fine and following the COVID-19 protocol as per government norms of CSA.

Engidi has not played for South Africa since the Ireland series in July. He did not tour Sri Lanka due to personal reasons, was included in the squad for the T20 World Cup but did not play in a single match.
