Conway’s 49-ball 87 helped Chennai beat Delhi by 91 runs to register their biggest win of the season. During his innings, Conway hit six sixes with ease against Kuldeep Yadav, who was in great rhythm.
After scoring a half-century in the third match in a row, Conway said, “I have to give credit to Dhoni. In the last match, I used the sweep shot a lot and got out because of that shot. Dhoni told me that the spinners will bowl ‘full length’ against me in this match, so I should try to get out of the crease and hit big shots.
“He told me how to do it,” the attacking New Zealand batsman told a post-match press conference.
Conway had scored an unbeaten 85 and 56 in the previous two matches. He was dismissed in an attempt to sweep off Wanindu Hasaranga’s delivery against Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Apart from Dhoni, Conway is also getting a lot of help from former Australia legend and team’s assistant coach Mike Hussey.
When asked about the comparison with Hussey, she said, “I think I have heard about it many times, which sounds good. It is very special to hear of comparisons with such a great player.
He said, “Hussey has a lot of knowledge and experience in the game. Not only IPL, he knows about the whole world of cricket. It becomes very special for me to talk to him.”
