Bowler sets double record in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy with double hat trick

Vidarbha fast bowler Darshan Nalkande has set a new record in T20 cricket by taking a double hat-trick on Saturday. The right-handed pacer playing for Vidarbha achieved this feat in the semifinals of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2021/22 and joined the Elite Club.

Nalkande was given the final over during Karnataka’s innings. On the second ball of the over, he dismissed Aniruddha Joshi. After which he sent Sharath BR back to the pavilion on the third ball. When on the fourth ball j. He completed his hat trick by taking the wicket of Suchit. And on the fifth ball he completed a double hat trick by taking the wicket of Abhinav Manohar running in form. And with this he has become the second Indian bowler to take a double hat-trick.

Former fast bowler Abhimanyu Mithun was the first bowler to achieve this feat. Playing against Haryana in 2019, he sent five batsmen back to the pavilion for Karnataka in a single over. In international cricket, Lashith Malinga achieved this feat in the match against New Zealand in the year 2019.

Speaking of the ongoing semifinals in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, Karnataka put up a massive 176 for 7 at the end of 20 overs. Opener Rohan Kadam and skipper Manish Pandey gave the team a strong start with a 132-run partnership for the first wicket. Rohan scored 87 off 56 balls while Panda scored 54 off 42 balls. Manohar scored 27 off 13 balls in the final over. However, the Vidarbha team did not have a good start and at the end of 7 overs it was 62 for 1.

The winning team will play the final against defending champions Tamil Nadu. The final is scheduled for Monday. Tamil Nadu advanced to the final by defeating Hyderabad in the first semifinal.
