Bangladesh would like to start afresh against Pakistan leaving behind the bitter memories of T20 World Cup

Dhaka, Nov 18 (AP) After a poor showing in the T20 World Cup, Bangladesh are looking to make a fresh start in the three-match T20 International series against Pakistan starting Friday.

Bangladesh captain Mahmudullah said that the series against Pakistan is happening at the right time for his team.

The team had to face defeat against Scotland in qualifier matches during the World Cup. Even after this they managed to reach the Super 12 stage but could not win a single match out of five. The team lost six out of eight matches.

Mahmudullah said on Thursday, “What happened in the World Cup has now passed and I really don’t want to talk about that. If we keep talking about the World Cup, it will have a negative impact on our performance.

“This series is an opportunity for us to showcase our potential. Yes, it will be a challenging series because Pakistan are one of the best teams in the world, but I believe if we start well, we will have a good chance.

After a disappointing performance in the T20 World Cup, Bangladesh has made extensive changes in the team, in which six players, including four new ones, have been included in the team.

Pakistan captain Babar Azam, who made a splendid performance in the T20 World Cup and traveled to the semi-finals, said that Bangladesh has many new players in the team but his team will not hesitate.

He said that Bangladesh defeated Australia (4-1) and New Zealand (3-2) in September and both these teams reached the final of the T20 World Cup.

“Bangladesh is not an easy opponent in home conditions. They have recently shown what they are capable of.

He said, “They are missing some players. The new players have played in BPL (Bangladesh Premier League) and they have been able to perform well. We want to carry on the momentum of the T20 World Cup.
