BAN v PAK: Bangladesh were reduced to 330 in the first innings, Pakistan got off to a good start

Chittagong. Pakistan got off to a good start on 145 runs without losing a wicket by bowling Bangladesh out for 330 in the first innings on the second day of the opening Test on Saturday, thanks to five wickets from pacer Hasan Ali. Opener Abid Ali and debutant Abdullah Shafiq batted well in the second and third sessions on a batting-friendly pitch, with Pakistan trailing Bangladesh by 185 runs.

Abid also completed 1000 runs in his 15th Test and is playing 93 runs till stumps. With this he is close to his fourth century. Shafiq also completed his half-century and is playing an unbeaten 52. In the morning Bangladesh started playing ahead of 253 runs for four wickets. But Ali took four wickets on the second day as Bangladesh could add only 77 runs for the loss of the remaining six wickets.

Ali took the five-wicket haul for the sixth time in which he was backed by new-ball partner Shaheen Shah Afridi who took two for 70 and medium pacer Faheem Ashraf who took two for 54. Liton Das was the top scorer for Bangladesh with 114 runs, scoring his maiden century. Mushfiqur Rahim added 91 runs while Mehdi Hasan remained unbeaten on 38.
