Asia cup 2022 schedule announced

New Delhi: The waiting hours are over. The schedule of the Asia Cup 2022 scheduled to start at the end of this month has arrived. The opening match between Sri Lanka and Afghanistan will be played in the tournament starting on August 27. The very next day, fans will also get to see a high voltage collision between India and Pakistan (India vs Pakistan Asia Cup). Both the opening matches will be held in Dubai. The final of the tournament will be held on September 11.

Like last year’s World T20, in this tournament too, India-Pakistan will start their campaign with a match against each other. After this match, the Rohit Sharma-led side will face the qualifiers on August 31. After the group stage fixtures, there will be a Super 4 round and the best two teams will advance to the final. According to Indian time, all matches will be played from 7.30 pm.

BCCI Secretary Jay Shah tweeted, “The wait is over as the battle for Asian supremacy begins on 27th August, with the finals to be played on 11th September. The 15th edition of the Asia Cup will serve as an ideal preparation before the ICC T20 World Cup.

Will have to wait for the sixth team now

Qualifiers will take place before the start of the main tournament, which will reveal the sixth team of the tournament. One team from UAE, Kuwait, Singapore and Hong Kong will advance to face India, Pakistan in Group A. Group B has teams like Sri Lanka-Bangladesh and Afghanistan. The Asia Cup, to be held in the first 50 over format, is being played in the T20 format for the past few seasons. The last Asia Cup played in 2018 was won by India by defeating Bangladesh. Team India is the most successful team in the history of the tournament.
