announcement of retirement
A day earlier, Rayudu, while announcing his retirement from IPL, wrote on Twitter that I am happy to announce that this will be my last IPL. In the 13 years I’ve played it, I’ve had a great time with two great teams. Would love to sincerely thank Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings for a wonderful journey. But this tweet was deleted shortly after.
CEO gave clarification
Chennai Super Kings CEO Kashi Vishwanath has reacted to Ambati Rayudu’s tweet. They say that Rayudu is not retiring. He said, ‘No, no, he is not becoming a rewriter. Maybe he wasn’t happy with his performance and it might have fizzled out. I think it’s simply a psychological one. He will be with us. He made it clear that Rayudu will play for the team next season as well.
not surprised the first time
This is not the first time Ambati Rayudu has surprised the fans. He had announced his retirement from international cricket in the middle of the 2019 World Cup. He was the leading batsman of the team till the tournament. But after not getting a place in the team, he first expressed his displeasure on social media and then announced his retirement. However, after a few months, he announced his return by taking a U-turn.
Tension is tension with CSK
If seen, it started with Suresh Raina, the former member of the team and the number-2 after Dhoni, called Mr. IPL. The franchise did not retain Suresh Raina before the 2022 mega auction. It was believed that the team would buy him in the auction, but it did not happen. Some people used to say that Raina was punished for leaving the 2020 season. Not only CSK, but no team has bet on Suresh Raina. He remains unsold and is seen doing commentary. This is the same Suresh Raina, on whose strength Chennai won many matches.
Ambati Rayudu’s connection with controversies
Wrecked with BCCI at a time when opportunities were being created for new players in Team India. Especially in T20 cricket, but Rayudu joined the ICL in opposition to the BCCI and hung the lock on the door to join Team India. Later the BCCI apologized. In 2006, his fight with Hyderabad player Arjun Yadav on the field was very popular, Arjun Yadav ran behind Rayudu with a wicket. The debate on the middle ground with Harbhajan Singh in the IPL, all these controversies never allowed Rayudu’s cricket record to become a topic of discussion.
