Australia, who continued to play well on the first day of the Ahmedabad Test, are showing the same style of play on the second day as well. Usman Khawaja and Cameron Green (114) led the Aussies to a huge score on the second day with 255 for the loss of 4 wickets. Both of them added 208 runs for the fifth wicket. Green, who completed his century after the lunch break on Friday, was soon caught by Ashwin’s bowling and joined the pavilion by wicketkeeper Srikar Bharat. With this, the tourist team lost the fifth wicket at 378 runs.

This is Cameron Green’s first Test tour to India.. It is remarkable that this is his first century in the long format. Since 2013, Khawaja-Green have created a record as the second pair to have a partnership of more than 200 runs on Indian soil. Sibley-Root pair put up 200-run partnership in Chennai Test in 2021. Khawaja and Green also set a record for the second highest partnership between Aussies on Indian soil. The highest till date was 222 runs set by Hughes-Allen Border in 1979-80.

Ashwin Pavilion also included Alex Carey in the same over as he dismissed Cameron Green. With this, the Aussies lost their sixth wicket at 378 runs in 131 overs. Carey who scored 25 runs off 40 balls in six innings of this series.. It is remarkable that he was dismissed five times. Australia lost their seventh wicket at 387 after Ashwin Pavilion added Mitchell Starc.
