England leg-spinner Adil Rashid believes bowlers need to be bold and confident to take on new challenges with the advent of T10 cricket (10-10 overs) and batsmen playing unconventional shots. Rashid is representing Delhi Bulls in the current season of the Abu Dhabi T20 League.
Rashid said, “It is challenging to play in this format at this age because you are playing on a flat pitch and a small ground. The thickness of the batsmen’s bat has increased, so it is easy to hit big shots against you. If you get hit for sixes and fours in two consecutive matches, then it can have a bad effect on your mind.

“The most important thing as a spinner is to keep the confidence. You know you are a match winner, you can turn the game around by taking a wicket in three, four or five balls. For this you have to prepare well during net practice and stay mentally strong while working on your ‘googly’, ‘slide’ and other variations.

Rashid has emerged as one of England’s most important players in limited overs cricket over the years. He has proved himself by playing in franchise based league cricket across the world.
When asked about batsmen’s unconventional shots in the shorter format, he said, “It has increased the challenges for the bowlers and the difficulty has also increased because the pitches are getting flat and the grounds are getting smaller. However, it is quite entertaining for the audience.
