Pune : Heavy rain has started in Pune. A 50-year-old banyan tree in Chavan society of Dhankawadi area fell down due to heavy rain and no one was injured. However, Anil Pavaskar, who lives in the society, and his family members are unable to come out of their house due to the collapse of this huge jhat at their doorstep. The fire brigade has started efforts to remove the tree. In Kothrud too, rainwater has entered some houses.
In the last two days Pune was shocked by Kar Ukada. But due to the rain today, dew has formed in the air. As the rain started suddenly, the citizens were in a panic. Due to heavy rains, water is flowing from the roads. Due to water accumulation on the roads, there has been a traffic jam in many places. Due to waterlogging on the roads, the vehicles have to face many obstacles. The road has gone under water in Gaymukh Odhapool area of Ambegaon. There are long queues of vehicles on the road from Chandni Chowk to Kothrud. There has been a huge traffic jam on the highway as well. Rainwater has entered the Chandannagar police station. After heavy rains, a large amount of water has entered the Kumbre Park society in Kothrud area of Pune. A wall of a house has fallen. People are pumping water out of their homes. Due to cloudburst at Dighi on Alandi road, there is a lot of water on the road. The flow of water is such that the scene looks like a flood. Vehicles parked on the side of the road have been swept away. Locals said that many vehicles were damaged.
Due to heavy rains, water has accumulated in many places in the city. Ved Bhavan, Kothrud, Garbage Depot near Vanaj, Laman Tanda, Pashan, Someshwar Wadi, Wanwadi, Shital Petrol Pump, B. T. Many important roads including Evade Road, Katraj Udyan have been flooded. Apart from this, there have been incidents of trees falling in six places in the city. Trees have fallen near NCL in Pashan, Salunkhe Vihar, near Jyoti Hotel in Kondhwa, near Ruby Hall in Chavannagar and near Pune Station area. But there was no loss of life.
Meanwhile, Prashana has given instructions to the citizens near the Mutha river basin to be alert. "Khadakwasla dam is full to capacity due to increasing rains. Therefore, discharge of 856 cusecs has been started in the Mutha river basin from the spillway of the dam at seven o’clock in the evening. There is a possibility of reducing/increasing the discharge again depending on the amount and availability of rain. Therefore, citizens should not enter the river bed. The administration has appealed that if there are any materials or animals in the riverbed, they should be moved immediately.
Heavy rains across the state
Rain has started across the state for the last two days. Along with Pune, Aurangabad, Jalgaon, Satara, Kolhapur are receiving heavy rains. Three automatic sluices of Kolhapur’s Radhanagari dam have been opened. So the people along Panchganga river have been alerted.
