Pune Mahalakshmi Temple: Goddess Mahalakshmi of Pune wears a 16 kg gold saree

Pune Mahalakshmi Temple : Pune (pune) Sarasbagh (sarasbaug) every year the idol of the goddess in the temple is dressed in a 16 kg golden saree. Goddess was wearing this saree on the occasion of Vijayadashami. Many Punekars throng the temple today to see and darshan this saree.

Sarees are worn twice a year by Sri Mahalakshmi Temple, Sri Bansilal Ramnath Aggarwal Religious and Cultural Trust, Sarasbagh. Founder Trustee of the temple Rajkumar Agarwal, Chief Trustee Amita Agarwal, Trustee Adv. Pratap Pardeshi, Tripti Agarwal, Bharat Agarwal, Praveen Chorbele, Hemant Arnalkar etc were present on this occasion. 

Devotees are celebrating Navratri festival in large numbers this year as Navratri festival is taking place without restrictions after two years. A devotee has offered this saree to the goddess. This saree weighs as much as 16 kg. On the day of Dussehra and Lakshmi Puja, this saree is worn to the goddess. Therefore, devotees flock to see this form of Shri Mahalakshmi Devi in ​​golden clothes.

20 years ago Nesvali devotee made  gold saree 
This gold saree has been created 20 years ago by artisans of South India. It takes about 6 months to make this saree. This gold saree is made with attractive embroidery. Chief Trustee Amita Agarwal said that since ancient times there is a tradition of looting gold on Dussehra and according to that tradition the Goddess should appear in a gold saree and bless the devotees on the occasion. Shree Mahalakshmi, Shree Mahasaraswati, Shree Mahakali Devi are seated in this year’s ‘Kamalpushpa’ decoration in Navratri festival organized by Shree Mahalakshmi Temple, Shree Bansilal Ramnath Aggarwal Religious and Cultural Trust Chiavati.

Gold saree worn on Diwali and Dussehra
