Pune Chandani Chowk Bridge Demolition : The bridge at Chandani Chowk in Pune has been closed for traffic from today. As this bridge is causing traffic congestion in Pune, it has been decided to demolish the bridge. The bridge will be demolished on September 18. After the explosion, the bridge will collapse in just eight to ten seconds. But it will take eight to ten hours to remove the radar that will be created after that. During this period, alternative road will have to be provided for vehicles coming from Mumbai – Pune direction. NHAI has selected Edifice Engineering to demolish the old bridge at Chandni Chowk in Pune. This is the same company that demolished the twin towers in Delhi a few days ago. Using the same technology, the old bridge at Chandni Chowk in Pune will be demolished. This bridge will be demolished in 10 seconds. Alternative route for Punekars
From National Defense Academy (NDA) and Mulshi to Pashan, Bawdhan, Kothrud and Warje The incoming traffic will be released from the newly constructed flyover no.1.
-The traffic from NDA, Mulshi to Mumbai will be released from flyover no.7 via flyover no.3. Traffic on other roads will continue as before.
-Traffic from Mumbai to Kothrud will be diverted through the existing Kothrud route.
-Traffic from Kothrud to Mumbai will be diverted to Ved Vihar via Kothrud subway.
-Traffic from Kothrud to Satara, Warje It will be diverted from the highway near Sringeri Matha on Vedavihar Service Road.
Chief Minister’s convoy was stopped and the Chief Minister ordered to demolish the bridge
Pune’s Chandni Chowk used to have huge traffic jams. For this Punekars had complained many times. As the convoy of the Chief Minister got stuck in this traffic jam, the Chief Minister took an urgent decision and decided to demolish this bridge. Accordingly, an inspection was conducted by NHAI and the bridge will be demolished on September 18.
