In fact, the ED had arrested Raut on Sunday midnight in connection with financial transactions involving property of Sanjay Raut’s wife and alleged associates in the Patra Chawl land money laundering case in suburban Goregaon. The court on Monday sent Shiv Sena MP Raut to ED custody till August 4. At the end of his custody, the agency on Thursday produced him in a special court from where his custody was extended.

During the hearing, when the court asked Raut if he had any complaint against the ED, he said it was nothing special. However, he said that the room where he was kept has no windows and ventilation. The court has sought an explanation from the central agency for this.

ED said – kept Raut in AC room
Special Public Prosecutor Hiten Venegaonkar, appearing for the ED, said that Raut was kept in an ‘AC’ room and hence there was no window. Raut later said that though there is an ‘AC’ arrangement, he cannot use it due to his health condition. The ED then assured the court that they would be kept in a properly ventilated room.

The Enforcement Directorate on Monday told the court that the Shiv Sena MP and his family received over Rs 1 crore for alleged irregularities in the redevelopment project of a ‘chawl’ in Mumbai.
