A few days ago, former Maharashtra cabinet minister Aslam Shaikh met the state’s deputy chief minister and BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis at his bungalow. After this meeting, it was being said that Aslam Sheikh may join BJP soon. Not only this, the name of former Chief Minister Ashok Chavan was also appearing along with him. It was being said that both the leaders could leave the Congress and join the Shinde-Fadnavis government. However, both the leaders have vehemently rejected such speculations. But Ashok Chavan’s meeting with Abdul Sattar has once again given strength to these speculations.
Sattar’s answer
Seeing the matter becoming media headlines, Abdul Sattar said that I had gone to take the guidance of Ashok Chavan as Agriculture Minister. He said that the former CM and his late father and former Union Minister Shankarrao Chavan have guided a lot in my political career. Because of which I have reached this point today. Sattar did not stop here, he said that Chavan has a good understanding of the entire Maharashtra including Marathwada. He is also aware of farmers’ issues and their problems.
courtesy call and nothing else
Abdul Sattar said that my meeting with Ashok Chavan should be seen only as a courtesy call. There is nothing wrong in this meeting between the leaders of the two parties. Let us tell you that a few days ago the news of Chavan being angry with his party leadership also made headlines. After which a show cause notice was also issued to him. Not only this, he was absent in the House even on the day of the confidence motion of the Eknath Shinde government.
