Mumbai: Politics in Maharashtra is hot with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s statement on Savarkar. Congress’s ally Uddhav faction has also expressed displeasure over Rahul’s statement. On the other hand, CM Eknath Shinde challenged Uddhav by reminding him of an incident of Shiv Sena founder Balasaheb Thackeray. Along with this, he has announced to take out Savarkar Gaurav Yatra in every district of Maharashtra.

Eknath Shinde has asked many questions to Uddhav Thackeray in a press conference. Shinde said that ‘he (Uddhav) is saying that he will not tolerate the insult of Savarkar. I want to know will they do this? The way Balasaheb Thackeray beat Mani Shankar Aiyar’s effigy with shoes, will he do the same.’

Mani Shankar’s effigy was beaten with shoes

For information, let us tell you that in 2004, the then Petroleum Minister Mani Shankar Aiyar was accused of insulting Veer Savarkar. Then Balasaheb Thackeray started the Shoe Maro movement. A shoe was also hit on the effigy of Iyer from his side. Now by mentioning the same story, Shinde is asking questions to Uddhav.

Shinde further said, ‘If you have the guts, come out of the MVA and show it.’ He said that Uddhav Thackeray is of a person with a double role. Thackeray allied with those who insulted Savarkar.

Fadnavis’s taunt on Uddhav

Shinde said, ‘I condemn Rahul Gandhi’s statement on Veer Savarkar. He played a great role in getting freedom to the country. India got freedom only because of the contribution of such fighters. We are going to take out Savarkar Gaurav Yatra.

Fadnavis has also taunted Uddhav on this issue. He said that ‘if Uddhav’s views change after walking with me for a while in the assembly, then I am ready to walk with every leader of Congress-NCB so that they learn to respect national leaders like Savarkar’.
