In the MLC elections, BJP fielded Ranjit Patil on the Amravati graduate seat. Whereas Mahavikas Aghadi had given ticket to Dhiraj Lingade. Polling for this seat was held in Amravati, Yavatmal, Washim, Buldhana and Akola districts. The seat saw a tough fight between Ranjit Patil and Lingade but in the end Congress-MVA candidate Dhiraj Lingade won, leaving BJP’s sitting MLC Ranjit Patil defeated.
Shocking defeat of BJP in Nagpur
MVA supported candidate Sudhakar Adabale won from Nagpur teachers constituency. Adabale defeated BJP-backed candidate Nagorao Ganara. The victory of the MVA-backed candidate in an RSS stronghold is a blow to the BJP. Actually Nagpur has its headquarter of RSS. Apart from this, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and other senior BJP leaders come from here.
Third consecutive defeat in Nagpur
This is not the first time of BJP in Nagpur. This is the third time in the last three years that the MVA has defeated the BJP in its home ground (Nagpur). Earlier MVA has won Nagpur Graduate Constituency and then Zilla Parishad Election and now Nagpur Teachers Constituency. On the other hand, Congress leaders claim that it is clear from the continuous defeat of BJP in Nagpur that people are distancing themselves from them (BJP).
