2024 election will be BJP vs MVA, existence of Shinde faction will end… Why did NCP claim this

Mumbai: Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) Maharashtra unit president Jayant Patil has said that the 2024 assembly elections in the state will be a BJP versus Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) contest. There will be a question mark on the existence of Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena. Patil told reporters here that he felt the BJP would contest all the 288 assembly seats on its election symbol. He claimed that the existence of the Shinde faction would be “done”.

The NCP leader said, “I don’t think the Shinde faction will survive when the contest is between the BJP and the MVA.” The MVA government of Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena faction, NCP and Congress fell after Shinde parted ways with the undivided Shiv Sena last year. After that Shinde had joined hands with BJP to become the Chief Minister. Recently, the Election Commission recognized his faction as the real ‘Shiv Sena’ and allotted it the election symbol ‘bow and arrow’.

‘BJP wants to destabilize small parties’

Patil alleged that the BJP does not want the existence of local political organizations and is against their development. The NCP leader said, ‘BJP has worked to destroy smaller parties-allies or rivals. BJP’s only agenda is to destabilize smaller parties so that it can grab their vote share.

He said that if the Shinde faction persists till then, BJP may finally let it contest on 48 seats and tell it that only five or six of your candidates can win.
