VHP national spokesperson Vinod Bansal told PTI that candle marches were held from eight different places in south Delhi’s Mehrauli area in the evening, demanding stricter laws against “illegal conversions and love jihad” in the national capital. Will be taken out.
The VHP leader said, “People outraged by the brutal murder of Shraddha Walkar will take out a march in Mehrauli to pay homage to the victim and demand speedy trial in the murder case and death sentence to the culprit within three months.”
“They will also demand stricter laws against illegal conversions and love jihad,” Bansal said. He said people’s candle march has the support of the VHP and several other groups.
Poonawalla allegedly strangulated Walkar and after chopping her body into 35 pieces kept it in a 300-litre refrigerator for about three weeks and dumped it in different parts of the city several days after midnight. Police said the two often had quarrels over financial issues and it is suspected that it was during one such quarrel that Poonawalla killed Walkar on the evening of May 18.
