GNIDA Chief Executive Officer Anand Vardhan said that the authority is planning to cover most of Greater Noida with 100 new buses. This will make it easier for people living in Greater Noida to reach and go to Metro. The tender process for this will be started soon. Along with this we are also in talks with NMRC regarding the availability of buses.
GNIDA started city bus service on 5 routes in association with Uttar Pradesh State Transport Corporation 1 year ago in January 2022. It starts from 6:30 AM and lasts till late evening. It is proposed to extend this contract to increase connectivity to Pari Chowk, Surajpur, Gautam Buddha University, Knowledge Park-2, Beta-1. Connectivity after getting off the metro in the Greater Noida area has been a long-standing concern for residents.
Vartika Asthana, a 27-year-old PR professional living in Beta-1, said, ‘I shifted to Greater Noida 6 months ago. I have to go to Delhi every day for work. I walk about 1 kilometer to go from home to metro. It is safe to do this in the morning but it is not safe at all to walk alone at night. If the connectivity of the government bus service is better then the people coming to Delhi will get relief.
Anshuman Bhargava also says that in Greater Noida, it is very expensive to travel short distances by auto rickshaw or cab. The monthly expenses are equivalent to paying the car EMI with petrol. Public transport with better connectivity is very much needed in Greater Noida.
