Mumbai
Thousands of mobiles are stolen every day in India, but these mobiles are now sold in Bangladesh more than the country. Mumbai Crime Branch came to know about this information when it arrested four people of mobile theft gang. 248 mobiles worth Rs 43 lakh were seized from them. Not only this, several laptops were also recovered.

DCP Datta Nalawade told NBT that mobile phones of common passengers were being stolen in large numbers from local trains and buses in Mumbai. The crime branch was trying to trace such thieves when the Chembur unit got information that dozens of stolen mobiles were kept in a house in Govandi. After this, the team of Senior Inspector Ravindra Salunkhe and PSI Sanjay Gaikwad raided there and recovered mobiles and laptops from there.

These mobiles are also sent from Bangladesh to other countries
When the accused was interrogated, he told that he does not steal them, but from those who steal them, they are bought by the people of his gang at cheap prices. Later, people associated with the gang send them to some of their colleagues in Delhi and Agra. These companions go to Kolkata with these stolen mobiles. Gang members come from Malda in Kolkata. Take these mobiles and then cross the border and deliver them to other gang members in Bangladesh. These mobiles from Bangladesh are then sent to other countries as well.

The leader of this gang is Sameer Sheikh. Along with him, Mohammad Waju Sheikh, Mohsin Abdul Sheikh and Sunny Yadav have also been arrested. In the investigation of Mumbai Crime Branch, it came to light that most of the mobiles stolen in MMR region were bought by the same gang, many mobiles stolen from UP, Tirupati were also sent to this gang in Mumbai.

…then it is impossible to trace the mobile
Why were stolen mobiles sent to Bangladesh and from there to other countries? Actually, whenever the complaint of mobile theft is registered in the police station, the police tries to track the stolen mobile by IMEI number. Whoever inserts the SIM in the mobile with that IMEI number, the police will get the name, address and location of the SIM person.

According to an officer of Senior Inspector Ravindra Salunkhe, we can catch such people only if the stolen mobile set is in the country itself. When the stolen mobile went abroad, it is not possible for us to trace it. The people of mobile theft gang are also aware of this, so for some time the stolen mobiles are being sent and sold in Bangladesh or Nepal in India.
